Jardine Enterprises has now on three separate occasions been required to issue baby cribs recalls by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”).  The latest in a string of recalls is apparently because the crib slats break.  This recent recall covers approximately an additional 96,000 cribs.  The breakage of these slats could result in a baby being trapped or suffering from strangulation.

Now more nearly 500,000 Jardine cribs (sold primarily at Babies R Us and Toys R Us) have been recalled. The CPSC said it received over 30 reports of slats breaking, including multiple reports of children trapped in the gap that resulted when the slats broke.

This particular type of gap is one of the most potentially lethal hazards that can be had by a baby product.  Baby products should be safe, but it appears that the CPSC does not think these cribs are.  For more information about the recall, go to http://www.cpsc.gov

ASTRA ZENECA ACCUSED OF SWEEPING STUDY UNDER THE RUG

Much has been written recently about why pre-emption is so dangerous and bad for the American public. "Study 15" is a great example of why. "Study 15" was a long term study done by AstraZeneca International ("AstraZeneca") that raised serious questions about whether newer antipsychotic drugs that were much more expensive were any better than the older less expensive drugs. In 1997, AstraZeneca allegedly hid this study from the Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") and the American public to allow the fraudulent approval by the FDA of Seroquel to treat schizophrenia.

Allegations have been made that AstraZeneca knew that taking Seroquel would cause weight gain, hyperglycemia and diabetes in thousands of patients. It has been further alleged that AstraZeneca learned about these potentially lethal side effects in the results of "Study 15."

Internal company documents have been made public which allegedly tend to indicate that nearly fifty percent of Seroquel patients suffered "clinically signficant weight gain."

AstraZeneca was not worried about the health and safety of those prescribed Seroquel, it was worried about FDA approval and the profits it could make. Additional internal documents seem to show this when AstraZeneca strategist Richard Lawrence allegedly stated that an AstraZeneca physician did a great "smoke and mirrors job" to hide this study. Two years later, AstraZeneca allegedly presented conflicting data at industry meetings. AstraZeneca's unbelievable position in 1999 was that Seroquel helped psychotic patients lose weight.

AstraZeneca withheld critically important information from the FDA, physicians, and the public. The approval AstraZeneca received in 1997 has resulted in tens of billions of dollars in revenue, nearly $12 billion in the last three years alone. One might ask, with $12 billion dollars on the line, can we trust any big company to act in our best interest? The answer is, unfortunately and sadly, no. Without the ability to sue and hold accountable these corporations like AstraZeneca, Big Pharma corporations and their ilk will play games with our health and continue to put profits ahead of people.

If you have used Seroqueland have been diagnosed with pancreatitis or an inflamed pancreas while using Seroquel or your loved one has died while using Seroquel you should contact us for review of a potential claim against the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

YAMAHA RHINO RECALL

Yamaha Motor Corporation recently issued a recall of more than 120,000 Yamaha Rhino ATVs according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ("CPSC"). All Rhino 450 and 660 model vehicles are being recalled. These recalls request that repairs be made to hopefully prevent wrecks that have already resulted in nearly fifty American deaths and potentially thousands of injuries. These Yamaha Rhinos were designed in a flawed manner which makes them less stable than they should be. The Rhinos' lack of stability increases the likelihood that these Rhinos will rollover even at low speeds. If you or someone you know was injured by a Yamaha Rhino contact us at 1-888-539-3110.

IS CHINESE DRYWALL TOXIC?

It is being widely reported that potentially toxic Chinese drywall was likely used in hundreds of thousands of homes in the Southeastern United States from 2004 and 2008. A chemical reaction occurs in the drywall and gives off a rotten-egg odor. This odor is more pronounced with heat and/or humidity. Below are photographs of a corroded water line and HVAC connections that are corroded because of gases released by the Chinese drywall.

A Florida Congressman has introduced a bill in the House seeking to temporarily ban Chinese-made drywall until knowledge can be gained about the chemicals that comprise the Chinese drywall. All of the effects of this drywall are not known, but some believe that negative health effects are associated with this drywall. If your home was constructed with this potentially toxic building material, please call us at 1-888-539-3110 to discuss your rights and options.
